It is set in Venice Italy, Desdemona and Othello get married in secret without her fathers consent and when Rodrigo and Iago discover the new they don’t hesitate to tell Brabanzio father of Desdemona. when brabanzio finds out about the news he goes to the duke to get Othello to pay for what he did as he does not approve because of Othello’s race. Brabanzio believes Othello used black magic to get Desdemona to love him. Than Othello and Desdemona enter to tell their story and how they are really in love and there was no witch craft involved. whilst this is all going on there is a war going on in Cyprus and the duke needs Othello to go to Cyprus to fight in the war, Desdemona fights to go with him as they are newly weds, this than causes a fight weather she should be allowed to go or not. Finally Iago and Rodrigo plot against Othello by using Cassio’s handkerchief as a way to make Othello jealous and believe Desdemona was cheating on him.

Pride & Prejudice:

Pride and prejudice was explored in act 1 as one of the main themes explored was race and discrimination, this is because Brabanzio (Desdemona’s father) didn’t accept Othello and approve of the marriage because he was Black. It was also shown as everyone called him “The Moor” which was a racial slur that was used to offend Othello.
