Summary:

Othello tries not to condemn Desdemona too harshly. But, soon. Iago calls Cassio in, while Othello hides; Iago speaks to Cassio of Bianca, but Othello, in his disturbed state, believes that Cassio is talking of Desdemona. Convinced of her infidelity, Othello is resolved to kill Desdemona himself by poisoning her but Iago suggest to strangle her in the bed she supposably cheated on him in , and charges Iago with murdering Cassio.

When Desdemona mentions Cassio in front of nobleman Lodovico, Othello becomes very angry and slaps her. Othello questions Emilia about Desdemona’s guilt, and she swears that Desdemona is pure and true. Emilia thinks that someone has manipulated Othello, however, Iago is there to dispel this opinion.

Iago comes across Roderigo; he is not pleased that Iago has failed to deliver on his promises regarding Desdemona. Iago quiets him by making him believe that if he kills Cassio, then he will win Desdemona; Roderigo decides to go along with it, but Iago is coming dangerously close to being revealed.

Desdemona knows that she will die soon; she sings a song of sadness and resignation, and decides to give herself to her fate.

Pride & Prejudice:

pride and prejudice was explore in this act as in scene 3 Emilia has pride in her self and the female gender as she has a whole monologue dedicated to men and woman. It is also portrayed in this scene as Othello shows prejudice towards Desdemona as she has “lost the handkerchief” and he believes woman are incapable. Furthermore, Iago also shows pride and prejudice towards many characters as he is minipulating many people.

Summary:

Cassio is feeling down and depressed as he had ruined his reputation, Emila comes holding news about what Othello has to say about Cassio and letting him know talking to Desdimona may help in his case. Desdimona swears to cassio he will get his job back if its that last thing she does, cassio leaves before othello sees him. when othello is walking towards desdimona he sees cassio leave looking shady sfter being with his wife. while Desdemona is convincing othello to make up and forgive Cassio othello starts to get jealous and suspicious. Iago starts to put things in othellos head saying Desdemona can be a liar at times as she was to her dad about othello and she could be hiding that she is cheating on othello with cassio. Iagos plan has started to fall into place as othello has started to have a suspision and iago has got the handkerchief. Iago also makes othello believe cassio is having dreams about Desdemona and is wipping his beard with her handkerchief. Iago and othello’s conversation escelated as othello got so angry where he wanted cassio dead. Desdemona continues to convince othello to hire cassio when fighting about her missing handkerchief, which cause othello to get very jealous.

Pride & Prejudice:

Pride and Prejudice was explored throughout Act 3 when calling Othello the more, also when Iago had to much pride in himself with his plan.

Summary:

The war in Cyprus has ended as the terrible storm had smashed the Turks, most of their plans are ruined and there fleets were shipwrecked. Because of the storm people were worried about Othello’s safety as the two of them were seperate because of it. As more and more people enter the island they join the conversation about women and how they trick men with their ways. when Othello finally arrives he and Desdemona go to their home, while they are gone Iago is explaining his plan to Rodrigo. Soon later the herald confirms that the Turkish fleet had been destroyed. As the men are celebrating the end of the war Iago pressures Cassio to drink, Cassio tries to decline the offer many but Iago insists and gets him so drunk where Cassio causes a fight between himself and Roderigo. In this situation Iago acts innocents and pretends he had nothing to do with it but than gets Roderigo to call everyone over to see whats happening. Montano tried to get Cassio to restrain himself but instead he gets hurt. Othello comes running in asking what happen, Iago told him part of the story leaving out the parts where he was involved leaving Cassio and montnao look guilty as they are in a higher position in the army and are swore to do better. Othello than demands the fight to stop and expresses how the man can not act like that anymore as when he finds out who is truly guilty he swears he is through with them. the next morning Cassio wakes up realising what he had done the previous night and how he had ruined his reputation, he talks to Iago about it and he just pretends to be a friend and acts like he had nothing to do with it. Cassio is feared as he doesn’t know what will happen to him. Iago continues plotting his plan.

Pride and prejudice has been explore in act 2 as there was a fight between Cassio and montano. It has also been portrayed in the conversation about women.

Summary:

It is set in Venice Italy, Desdemona and Othello get married in secret without her fathers consent and when Rodrigo and Iago discover the new they don’t hesitate to tell Brabanzio father of Desdemona. when brabanzio finds out about the news he goes to the duke to get Othello to pay for what he did as he does not approve because of Othello’s race. Brabanzio believes Othello used black magic to get Desdemona to love him. Than Othello and Desdemona enter to tell their story and how they are really in love and there was no witch craft involved. whilst this is all going on there is a war going on in Cyprus and the duke needs Othello to go to Cyprus to fight in the war, Desdemona fights to go with him as they are newly weds, this than causes a fight weather she should be allowed to go or not. Finally Iago and Rodrigo plot against Othello by using Cassio’s handkerchief as a way to make Othello jealous and believe Desdemona was cheating on him.

Pride & Prejudice:

Pride and prejudice was explored in act 1 as one of the main themes explored was race and discrimination, this is because Brabanzio (Desdemona’s father) didn’t accept Othello and approve of the marriage because he was Black. It was also shown as everyone called him “The Moor” which was a racial slur that was used to offend Othello.
